Labor Day is coming up. It’s the day we celebrate our country’s social and economic achievements by…taking the day off! With the three-day weekend approaching, it’s time to plan how you and your family will celebrate. Here are some ideas.
Get Outdoors
Considered by many as the official end to summer, Labor Day is a great time to enjoy being outside. The temperature has cooled down a bit, especially in the evenings, making activities like hiking and bike-riding much more manageable. But at the same time, it’s still warm enough to go swimming or enjoy outdoor water activities. Even if you don’t want to do anything strenuous, consider hosting a picnic or cook-out, or just spending time outside enjoying the nice weather. An outdoor movie night could be just the ticket.
Host a Backyard Olympics
Another great idea is to host your own backyard Olympics. Invite family, friends, or neighbors over and tell them to bring their A-game. Set up some games and have a friendly competition! Some fun options might be cornhole, giant Jenga®, croquet, bocce ball, or whatever your crew enjoys. You could even bring out the hoses and have slip and slide races. If your group tends to get a bit too competitive, there’s always the option to divide everyone up into two teams and let them battle it out. End the event with an awards ceremony.

Decorate Your Porch For Fall
Many people like to take advantage of a long weekend to get some things done around the house. But if you don’t have any pressing maintenance issues, it’s also the perfect time to spruce up your front entrance with some seasonal decor. This doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. A few mums, some pumpkins, and a homemade wreath will go a long way. You can always find tutorials and ideas for inspiration online. If you have the time and the ability, consider giving your front door a new coat of paint for an entirely fresh new look.
No matter how you choose to spend the holiday, we hope you and your family have a great time celebrating!
