3 Winter Events To Attend Near Brandywine

Peaceful holiday scene

It’s just about that time of year. The holidays — whichever ones you celebrate — are upon us. This warm and giving time of year inspires us and fills us with wonder. At the same time, it also promises a great deal of enforced togetherness. Children are out of school, many workplaces are closed or have truncated hours. It’s a given during the holiday season: We’re all looking for something fun to do. Here are three winter events to attend near Brandywine in December.

Express Yourself

The Polar Express fires up its engines at the Glenarden Municipal Center at 8600 Glenarden Way on Saturday, December 3, 2022. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and tickets are available in advance. This is a fun adventure for the whole family, and organizers promise that this year’s version of the Polar Express will be bigger and better than ever.

So Bazaar

The Square Weekend Bazaar is an indoor vendor market that’s open on — you guessed it — the weekends in the 11,000-square foot retail space in St. Charles Town Plaza. Vendors offer an eclectic mix of items, which makes it a perfect place to shop for a unique holiday gift. And even if you’re not buying presents this season, the Bazaar is a great place to people-watch. There’s a ton of foot traffic, so get there early for the best selection.

Going to Market

The D.C. Holiday Market is right around the corner, set for Saturday, December 17th, and Sunday, December 18th. This is a ticketed event, so make sure to purchase yours in advance. When you get tired of shopping through the 70+ of DC’s small businesses, designers, and custom brands, you can relax in one of the lounge areas, enjoy DIY crafts with your children, and enjoy the festival-like atmosphere of the market. Don’t forget that children under 14 years old get in for free.
